Had to leave the field due to neck strain
After the dismissal of Washington Sundar on the second day of the first Test, Shubman Gill came out to bat, but while attempting a slog sweep off Simon Harmer, he strained his neck. The physio immediately examined him, but due to constant pain and cramps, he retired hurt and went out of the field and never returned to that match.
Four days rest advised, less chances of going to Guwahati
According to PTI report, Gill has been advised to take rest for four days after the medical scan. For this reason he will not go to Guwahati with the team on Wednesday. Bengal Cricket Association sources said that Gill has severe pain in his neck and he cannot share detailed information to the injury. At present, Gill has been advised to wear a collar around his neck and avoid air travel.
Situation will be clear on Gill’s fitness on Tuesday
According to sources, considering the need for rest for three to four days, it has not been advised to send him to Guwahati. The final decision on his availability is expected by Tuesday.
