Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) has announced its strong cricket team of 15 players for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. Star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who has been leading the Australian T20 team on an interim basis for the last one year, has now been appointed as the full captain of the T20 team. Apart from this, veteran batsman Steve Smith, who played an important role in making the Australian team champion in the 2015 and 2023 ICC ODI World Cup and 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, has failed to get a place in the Australian World Cup team for the first time. Smith has been an integral part of the Kangaroo team in all ICC tournaments (ODI, T20 and Test) since 2014.

Jake Fraser-McGurk, who batted brilliantly for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), has also failed to make a place in the Kangaroo team for the upcoming major tournament. Both star all-rounders, Cameron Green and Ashton Agar, who were out of the Australian T20 team for almost 18 months, have been selected in the team for the T20 World Cup.

There have been no surprise selections in the Australian team. There are well-known names in his team. There are two opening batsmen in David Warner and Travis Head, while the middle order has world-class all-rounders like Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green, Aston Agar and Tim David. However, Marsh also opens the innings in limited overs cricket.

If we talk about the bowling department of the Kangaroo team, it is also very strong, in which Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood have been kept. Josh English and Matthew Wade have been selected as wicketkeepers, while Adam Zampa is the only specialist spinner in the team.

Australia's squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is as follows:

Mitchell Marsh (captain), David Warner, Aston Agar, Tim David, Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh English, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa.
