Southland’s Jacob Duffy continues to shine on the international stage.

The right-arm fast medium bowler recently became the equal fastest New Zealander to reach 50 T20 wickets, which came in 36 appearances, while he has also broken another record following the Black Caps' convincing win over the West Indies in their fifth T20 international in Dunedin last Thursday.

His figures of 4-35, including three wickets in an over, the third of the game and his second, were his fifth time taking four wickets at the international level, the most has ever by a New Zealander.

Duffy currently has 53 T20 wickets, 35 of which have come in 2025, and he sits ninth overall in leading wicket takers from New Zealand in the format, just three behind James Neesham in eighth.

After conceding 12 off his first over in the clash at University Oval, Duffy responded superbly to pick up three wickets in five balls and expose the Windies' middle order.

His efforts cap off what’s been another big international season for the theLumsden-bornn seamer.

Earlier in the year, he managed to rise to number 1 in the T20 world rankings, and after sliding down numerous places, due to New Zealand not playing for a period, he’s back to third following this series.

He picked up 10 wickets in the series and won player of the match in Dunedin as well as player of the series.

About nine seasons ago, Duffy was left out of the Volts and encouraged to work on his technique, which has proven to be the best thing for him and his career.

Duffy has current Black Caps coach Rob Walter to thank for that decision, who at the time was in charge of the Volts.

Back in Jul, he made his test debut against Zimbabwe, nabbing a couple of wickets and scoring 36. He’ll be hoping he can add to both tallies in the coming weeks when the Black Caps play the West Indies in three tests.

Duffy also took part in the one-day international in Christchurch on Sunday but failed to add to his tally of scalps.
