Devon Conway, Ravindra Shines as New Zealand Tame West Indies in Rain Affected Game

A solid knock from Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra has helped New Zealand to post 5 5-wicket victory against West Indies at Napier.

They went on to score 90 and 56 runs respectively, securing a win for the Blackcaps in the rain-affected game played on November 19.

With a rain-affected game, New Zealand invited West Indies to bat first, where John Campbell and Ackeem Auguste opened the innings, while Matt Henry opened the bowling attack.

Despite a poor start from the top order, Shai Hope’s knock has helped the side to make a solid total.

Jamieson struck twice, picking the wickets of John Campbell and Keacy Carty for 4 and 7 in the power play.

With the dismissal of Ackeem Auguste for 22 runs, West Indies lost three wickets for 62 runs.

Despite the middle order’s dismissal cheaply, Shai Hope took a solid stance and anchored the innings. Meanwhile, Sherfane Rutherford and Roston Chase went back to the pavilion for 13 and 2, respectively.

With Justin Greaves, Romario Shepherd, and Matthew Forde contributing 22, 22, and 21 runs, respectively, Shai Hope went on to smash a century, helping the side post 247 runs in 34 innings.

Jamieson picked 3 wickets while Nathan Smith bagged 4 wickets, with Tickner and Santner completing 1 wicket each.

In the pursuit of chasing 248 runs, Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra opened the innings while Matthew Forde opened the bowling attack.

The duo made a solid start, scoring 106 runs for the 1st wicket. Ravindra smashed 56 runs before being dismissed by Justin Greaves, while Will Young got dismissed for 11 runs by Roston Chase.

With Jayden Seales bagging the wicket of Mark Chapman for a duck, Devon Conway scored 90 runs before being dismissed by Shamar Springer.

After Michael Bracewell scored 11 runs, Tom Latham and Mitchell Santner took a solid stance, scoring unbeaten 39* and 34* runs, helping the side to post a 5-wicket victory against West Indies.

New Zealand secured 248 runs in the final over of the game. Shai Hope was named as the Player of the Match.

With New Zealand securing a 2-0 lead in the series, the final game of the series will be played on November 22 at Seddon Park.
