Rishabh Pant's responsibility is going to increase in Team India. He will have to contribute with bat and gloves in front and behind the wicket. Apart from that, now an important role of captaincy may also have to be played. There is news that the Indian team management has asked Rishabh Pant to be ready regarding this on Wednesday itself. After Pant is given the command of the team in the Test to be played in Guwahati, he can also be given the captaincy of the ODI series against South Africa.
Shubman Gill's latest injury update is believed to be the reason behind this decision to make Pant the captain.According to the report of RevSportz, Shubman Gill is not completely well yet. In such a situation, he was played in the Guwahati Test and if he gets injured again like in the Kolkata Test, then the situation may worsen. According to specialist opinion, it takes 5 to 7 days for a player to recover from a neck injury. At present it is certain that Gill will not play in the second test.
It is believed that Shubman Gill may be out of the ODI series after the second Test against South Africa.
The reason behind this is his continuous playing of cricket. If sources are to be believed, if Gill is out, then Rishabh Pant will be seen captaining the ODI series. This is because the vice-captain of the ODI team, Shreyas Iyer will also be out of the team.
