After a brilliant century from Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladesh cricketer to score a century in the 100th test, Litton Das came up with a century to extend the side’s domination against Ireland.
The duo has paired several times, making a 100-plus run partnership for Bangladesh in Tests. Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim had a gritty partnership that started on day one and resumed the game on 02 of the second test in the Ireland tour of Bangladesh 2025.
Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed by McBrine in the 99th over. The partnership saw Mushfiqur score 49 runs while Litton scored 58 to stitch up a total of 108 runs from 208 deliveries.
The fifth wicket stand was impressive in the first innings for Bangladesh as the second one ranks with Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim, who stitched up 107 runs before Haque was dismissed in the 64th over.
The partnership was the highest as it surpassed other numbers of 100-plus partnerships for Bangladesh pairs with names like Habibul Bashar, Javed Omar, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan, who have paired up five times to have 100-plus run partnerships.
Bangladesh stalwart Mushfiqur celebrated his momentous 100th test by smashing a century. The right-hander, unbeaten and just one run short of three figures at the end of the opening day’s play, completed the milestone in the second over to become only the 11th batter in history to score a hundred in their 100th test.
Mushfiqur held his nerve against spinner Matthew Humphreys in the first over of the day, playing out a maiden and reached the milestone on the third ball of the second over from pacer Jordan Neill.
A massive roar erupted as he removed his helmet, raised both hands in celebration and dropped to the ground to perform sijdah. With his hundred, he also drew level with Mominul Haque for the most test centuries by a Bangladeshi batter.
Litton Das went on to score 128 runs before being dismissed by Matthew Humphreys. With Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 47 runs, Bangladesh went on to cross the 400-run mark at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
