Delhi: The Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been announced. 26-year-old explosive left-handed batsman Rinku Singh from Aligarh, who led his team to victory by hitting 5 consecutive sixes in an over in a match during the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been kept in the team as a reserve player. At the same time, the selectors have included star all-rounder Shivam Dubey in the main squad.

It would not be wrong to say that power hitter Rinku's dream of playing in the T20 World Cup was shattered due to the impact player rule in IPL, because he did not get a chance to spend much time at the crease, whereas Dubey got more opportunities. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been included in the Indian team despite being out of form. Not only this, he has also been made the vice captain.

A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told PTI on the condition of anonymity that there is no doubt that Rinku has been affected by the impact player rule. Although Hardik is not in form, he is India's best all-rounder and it would have been dangerous to drop him.

At the same time, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) gave Rinku the role of finisher and he did not get a chance to bat in the top five. Before being selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup, he had played only 82 balls in 8 innings, i.e. about 10 balls per innings. The result was that he has been included as a reserve player in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rinku Singh's call came from Pakistan, wants to be included in the playing eleven

In such a situation, Pakistan's famous sports journalist Farid Khan said that if India does not want to play Rinku Singh in the upcoming major tournament, then he should be sent to Pakistan, because the neighboring country is ready to give Rinku a chance in the playing eleven. Apart from this, he has also strongly criticized the Indian selectors.

According to Farid Khan in a video shared on X, “If India does not want Rinku Singh, then send him to Pakistan. We will have him in our team and we know how to respect talents like him.”

He further wrote, “His average in T20 International cricket is 89 and strike rate is 176, yet he has been dropped to give opportunity to players on some quota. Team India has selected big names. India will not be able to qualify for the semi-finals now, this is a curse. Justice for Rinku Singh.”

Farid said, “If IPL was the selection criteria, then how were Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj selected? Have some shame.”
