The Indian selectors have completed their task of selecting the team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Leading cricket experts have questioned the presence of four spinners and the exclusion of Rinku Singh. However, former players are also happy with Shivam Dube’s inclusion in the 15-member squad. The southpaw has been sensational for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024.
He has held the middle order together and is consistently scoring runs. Harbhajan Singh wants the team management to include Dube in the Playing XI no matter what the situation is.
Shivam could face a challenge from Hardik Pandya, who is the vice-captain. If Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid decide to play three spinners, there is a possibility of Dube sitting out as Pandya would get preference.
“If I were with the Indian team management, I would keep Shivam Dube in the Playing XI. He has been magnificent for Team India and Chennai Super Kings and the team needs a player like him in the lower order. Dube should be included in the playing group in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024,” Harbhajan Singh said.
Ravi Shastri agreed with Bhajji. “Dube should play all the games as he hit spinners for four and sixes. He will bat in the lower order and all teams will play spinners,” Ravi Shastri said.
