The Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has suffered an injury scare on his right shoulder while fielding on day 04 in the second test against South Africa at Guwahati.

He landed awkwardly on his right elbow while attempting to stop a boundary in South Africa’s innings.

Mohammed Siraj looked in clear discomfort, clutching his shoulder while walking off the field. The incident occurred in the 75th over when Tristan Stubbs smashed a gentle delivery from Nitish Kumar Reddy towards the square-leg boundary.

The pacer attempted to stop the ball with desperate dive, which led to the awkward landing. He then waited for the physios to assess him, attempting to rotate his right arm to judge whether he could continue, but he walked off.

Devdutt Padikkal replaced him as a substitute fielder during the final session. However Siraj retured to the fiedl in the 78th over, and dropped a catch of Tristan Stubbs.

South Africa showed dominance at Guwahati as they extended lead beyond 500 runs. India already turned to Yashasvi Jaiswal before lunch and opened the final session with Nitish Kumar Reddy who had barely bowled in the match.

Mohammed Siraj had bowled 30 overs in the first innings and vie in the second, while Jasprit Bumrah delivered 32 overs in the first and four in the second.

India’s batters also failed to provide their bowlers enough rest after spending nearly two days in the field, lasting only 83.5 overs in the first innings.

India are in verge of slipping their second home series in as many years. They lost the opener game of test series in the South Africa’s tour of India 2025 by 30 runs at Kolkata.

By the end of day 04, India scored only 27 runs for two wickets at the end of day 04 and India will be needing 522 runs in 90.1 overs to secure a victory at Guwahati.
