The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction was held in New Delhi on Thursday with 67 players being signed by the five franchises.
Deepti Sharma was the most expensive player in the auction, going to UP Warriorz for Rs. 3.20 crore. She also became the second-most expensive player in WPL history, sitting only behind Smriti Mandhana, who was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs. 3.40 crore.
Mumbai Indians shelled out Rs. 3 crore for New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr, making her the second costliest player during Thursday’s event.
Across the auction, teams spent a total of Rs. 40.80 crore to sign 67 players. In the inaugural WPL auction for the 2023 season, teams had spent Rs. 59.50 crore to sign 87 players. The amount spent in the next two mini auctions was Rs. 12.75 crore and Rs. 9.05 crore, respectively.
Among the teams, UP Warriorz was the top spender, splashing out Rs. 14.15 crore in overhauling its squad.
