Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma unveiled India’s new T20 jersey during the innings break in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur. Interestingly, Rohit has retired from T20Is. Virat Kohli, who has also bid adieu to the shortest format, was not present during the unveiling of the jersey.

The jersey has a deep blue base, with orange panels. The tricolour has been shifted to the collar.

“It’s been a long journey. We won our first World Cup in 2007, and the next success came after more than 15 years. The journey was full of ups and downs, and it was great to lift the trophy again. The World Cup will now take place in India, and it is going to be exciting.

My best wishes are with the team, and I am sure everyone will support them,” Rohit said.

Rohit only plays one-day cricket for India, while Tilak is a part of white-ball teams. India will wear the new jersey in the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa starting 9 December.

Rohit, who scored a fifty in the series opener, managed just 14 runs in the second game. He has shown impressive form in recent times, with the Player of the Series performance in the previous assignment in Australia.

The 38-year-old amassed over 200 runs, including a hundred and fifty.

He has shed 10 kgs to remain fit and in shape to boost his chances for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Tilka hasn’t been able to play consistently for the national team despite making useful contributions in limited chances.

India posted 358/5 in their 50 overs, with Ruturaj Gaikwad (105) and Kohli (102) scoring centuries. The two added 195 runs for the third wicket and didn’t allow the South African bowlers to dominate the proceedings.

The sub-continent team is leading 1-0, having won the Ranchi ODI by 17 runs.

Kohli accumulated 135 runs in the game and was named the Player of the Match.
