Australia wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, who has been released by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, has confirmed that he will be available for only 25% of the season.
Inglis has put his name in the mini auction for a base price of INR 2 crore, and his limited availability has become a talking point among franchises.
Josh Inglis has been part of the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 and played a crucial role in their campaign.
The franchise finished up as runners-up after suffering a defeat against RCB in the finals of the 2025 season.
However, PBKS released him during the announcement of their retentions.Josh Inglis is one of the 45 players in the IPL 2026 auction players list who has categorised in INR 2 crore base price category. Only two Indian players Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer has been listed in the same category.
Josh Inglis limited availability is due to his personsal commitments, which includes his wedding, which overlaps with most of the IPL 2026 season.
The wk-batter made his IPL debut last season, played 11 matches for PBKS, scoring 278 runs at an average of 30.88.
However, he has a strike rate of 162.57 that helped PBKS in the middle overs.Inglis also scored a match-winning 73 runs off 42 deliveries against Mumbai Indians in the last league match.
As per some reports, Punjab Kings wanted to retain him, but PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting has been against as Josh Inglis would not be available for a full season.
Josh is a terrific player. I would have loved to have had him as part of our squad going forward. But this year he wasn’t going to be available for the majority of the tournament. For that reason, I found it pretty much impossible to be able to retain him,” Ricky Ponting said in an official statement by PBKS.
Apart from him, Players like Adam Milne, Ashton Agar and Rilee Rossouw have also confirmed partial availability due to various reasons. Rilee Rossouwwho played for PBKS in IPL 2024, has also registered for the IPL auction with limited availability.
