Hardik Pandya faces flak from all corners after Mumbai Indians became the worst-performing franchise in the Indian Premier League 2024. The five-time champions are last in the points table with just three wins and eight defeats. Pandya hasn’t started the bowling with Jasprit Bumrah in most games despite the pacer expressing his desire to bowl the first over.
And now former MI player Harbhajan Singh has highlighted Hardik’s blunder in the 17th season. “IF I were with Mumbai Indians’ management, I would have started bowling with him in every game. Jasprit Bumrah is the world’s best bowler. He hasn’t allowed the batters to go after him in the league stage and has the best economy rate.
“The batters are finding it hard to deal with his variation. He is bowling Yorkers and has different variations in every game; if Hardik had started with him, there would have been a possibility of Mumbai getting wickets in the first over,’ Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
Bumrah currently holds the Purple Caps with 17 wickets in 11 games. His form is crucial for the Indian team as the speedster will lead the team’s bowling attack in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The global tournament will be played in the West Indies and the USA in June. Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh are the other pacers in the squad.
