Fresh from a successful ODI World Cup, the Indian team is looking forward to shifting focus to the T20 format as it starts its build-up to next year’s global showpiece, captain Harmanpreet Kaur said on Saturday.
India and Sri Lanka meet in the first of a five-match T20I series at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

“The last few days were hectic, but I want such a schedule after every World Cup. So I don’t mind that. I am looking forward to this series, we have been waiting for a month to get back on the field because, at the end of the day, we enjoy ourselves best on the field,” she said.
She admitted that the Women in Blue are operating with next year’s T20 World Cup in mind, as underlined by the presence of a couple of youngsters in the squad.

“It’s a very important series for us and hopefully we all give our best shot. Our end goal is the T20 World Cup in the next six months and before that we want to play a lot of T20 cricket. We have some new players in the team, it’s the right time to give them a fair chance to understand how we have to go in the next World Cup. We want to play with a free mindset and play how we have been playing T20 cricket in the last couple of years.”
