Lucknow: In the match played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Punjab Kings by 28 runs. With this victory, CSK has taken a huge leap in the points table and have reached the third position. Earlier this team was present at fifth position. In this match, Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl first and after this their bowlers did a good job and restricted Chennai to 167 runs.
Chasing the target of 168 runs, the Punjab team collapsed and could score only 139 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 28 runs. With this, Chennai has now staked its strong claim for the top-4. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was the hero for CSK in this match and he performed well with bat and ball. While batting, he scored 43 runs in 26 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from this, Jadeja did wonders with the ball and took 3 wickets while spending 20 runs in 4 overs. With his brilliant performance, the star player played an important role in helping Chennai win by 28 runs.

Chennai had made a great start in this match and had scored 60 runs at the loss of one wicket in the powerplay itself, but after this, Punjab spinner Rahul Chahar brought his team back into the match by taking two wickets in one over. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 32 runs on 21 balls in this match. Apart from him, Daryl Mitchell also played an inning of 30 runs. Rahul bowled brilliantly for Punjab and took 3 wickets giving 23 runs in 4 overs. Apart from him, Harshal Patel also showed the way to the pavilion by giving away 24 runs to 3 batsmen in 4 overs. Looking at the target of 170, it seemed that Punjab would achieve it easily but it did not happen and this team could score only 139 runs in 20 overs. For PBKS, opener Prabhsimran Singh scored the highest score of 30 runs in 23 balls. Whereas Shashank Singh played an inning of 27 runs but apart from these two batsmen, no other player could score more runs and Punjab had to face defeat by 28 runs.
