However, Cricket West Indies has assured security regarding the tournament.

In view of the threat of terrorist attack, a security alert issued by the Caribbean country Trinidad and Tobago said, “Pro-Islamic State (IS) media sources have launched campaigns inciting violence against sporting events. The Afghanistan-Pakistan branch of IS has also released a video message, in which emphasis has been laid on carrying out terrorist incidents in many countries. He has also appealed to his supporters to join the attack group.

Cricket West Indies CEO Jonny Graves has assured security during the tournament.

“We are working closely with host country and city officials and are pursuing a comprehensive strategy to address any threats,” Graves said. We want to assure that the safety of everyone involved in the T20 World Cup is our top priority. “We have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place.”

The World Cup matches in the West Indies will be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago. The two semi-final matches of the tournament will be played in Trinidad and Guyana and the final will be played in Barbados.
