On Sunday, KKR outclassed LSG at the Ekana Stadium. With the help of Sunil Narine’s outstanding performance with the bat and ball,, KKR defeated LSG by 98 runs to top the points table in the Indian Premier League 2024. This was KKR’s second victory over LSG this season.

KKR lost the toss and were invited to bat first by KL Rahul. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine got off to flying start in the powerplay. Narine led the KKR side by scoring 81 in 39 balls. The Kolkata side went to amassed 235/6.. Narine kept the scoreboard ticking while Salt was dismissed at 32 in 14 deliveries.

After the game, LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq said that despite their best efforts, the team was unable to counter Narine.

“We planned a lot to counter Narine. Nothing worked against him even though we tried to switch things up with yorkers and bouncers. To be honest, it was an outstanding innings. He was middling the ball perfectly. He’s been in a great touch since the beginning of the IPL,” Naveen stated.

The Afghan pacer lamented LSG’s batting collapse and referred to Sunday’s pitch as the best batting surface so far.

“With the games we have played in Lucknow, this was the ideal wicket to bat on. We failed to replicate our batting success. There was nothing for the bowlers in the track,” he continued.

“There’s always pressure, regardless of the target. Every team has a bad day, but we have to move on not dwell on it,” he added.

With their victory, KKR climbed to the top of the standings, while Lucknow maintained their fifth place. They are still in contention to make it to the IPL playoffs with 12 points from 11 games.
