Even though Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium, fans were still concerned about Rohit Sharma’s form in T20 cricket. Since his century against Chennai Super Kings, Rohit’s form has been dismal, and fans are worried because India will play in the T20 World Cup in less than a month. It appeared that Rohit was heartbroken by his poor outing, as the former MI captain was seen in the dressing room looking dejected after being dismissed for just four runs.
After being sacked as captain due to his declining T20 cricket batting performance, Rohit piled up 297 runs in his first seven innings this season, including 105 against CSK and 49 against Delhi Capitals. But in the next five games, he scored just 34 runs, four of those are in a single digits.
A length delivery from the opposition captain, Pat Cummins, ended Rohit’s innings in the match against Sunrisers. He intended to play it off his hips and flick the ball over square, but he rushed into the shot and and the ball ballooned in the air. SRH keeper Heinrich Klaasen easily grabbed.
Rohit walked back to the pavilion with his head down, frustrated after departing for yet another poor score. Afterwards, the cameras showed him shedding tears in the MI dressing room.
In the IPL 2024, Rohit still have two more games to regain his form before the Indian players depart for the USA, where they will kickoff their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5.
