Mumbai Indians (MI) explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav created history by scoring a stormy century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday (6 May) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. For Mumbai, which came to chase the target, Suryakumar played an unbeaten inning of 102 runs with the help of 12 fours and 6 sixes in 51 balls. In which he scored 84 runs only in fours and sixes. During this victorious century he made many records.
equaled Sachin Tendulkar
Suryakumar was adjudged Player of the Match for his winning innings. He has reached joint fourth place in terms of winning the most Player of the Award in IPL for Mumbai. By winning this award for the eighth time, he has equaled Sachin Tendulkar. Now only Rohit Sharma (16), Kieron Pollard (14) and Jasprit Bumrah (10) are ahead of him in this list.
Most centuries for Mumbai
Suryakumar has come joint first in terms of scoring most centuries in IPL for Mumbai. He equaled Rohit Sharma by scoring his second century for this franchise.
Sixth century in T-20
Suryakumar has jointly reached third place in the list of players who have scored the most centuries in T-20 for India. This is his sixth century in this format, apart from him Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul have also scored 6-6 T20 centuries. Virat Kohli (9) is at first and Rohit Sharma (8) is at second.
First Indian to do so
Suryakumar is the only Indian to score 4 or more centuries while batting at number 4 or below in T20. Apart from them, Glenn Maxwell has scored 5 centuries and David Miller has scored 4 centuries.
It is noteworthy that in this match, Mumbai won by 7 wickets. After being invited to bat first, Hyderabad scored 173 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. In response, Mumbai had a bad start and 3 wickets fell till the total score of 31 runs. Then Suryakumar along with Tilak Verma (37 not out) took over the innings and made an unbroken partnership of 143 runs for the fourth wicket. Due to which Mumbai won by losing 3 wickets in 17.2 overs.
