Former Aussie southpaw Matthew Hayden hailed RR skipper Sanju Samson as one of the most complete batters in the IPL 2024. Speaking on Star Sports during the DC vs. RR match, Hayden referred to Samson as the tournament’s “master blaster” because of his effortless ability to play both pace and spin.

Samson has scored 471 runs in 11 games during the IPL 2024, demonstrating his amazing form. Despite having a significantly greater strike rate, he is ranked third on the Orange Cap list after Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Samson nearly pulled off a stunning heist against DC, but he was dismissed controversially when batting at 86 off just 46 balls.

“With 86 off 46, Sanju Samson was hitting the ball well. He keeps showing his value by winning games, like he did against LSG. He’ll be saddened, though, if he couldn’t lead Rajasthan to victory. He’s been the master blaster of this tournament, skillfully controlling pace and spin,” claimed Hayden.

“He times his innings perfectly. He has the power. In T20 cricket, power is also very important. What is noteworthy, though, is his dedication. He simply needed some luck, particularly in the last part of the game,” he continued.

RR are currently ranked second in the league table despite the loss to DC. They only trail in the NRR but are tied with KKR in points (16 off 11). With three games remaining in the group stage, RR is well-positioned to finish in the top two teams in the league stage. In their last three matches, RR will face CSK, PBKS, and KKR.
