ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup: In the second semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup 2026, the Indian team showed a brilliant performance against Afghanistan, but the old weakness of opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi came to the fore again. In this important match being played in Harare, Afghanistan, batting first, made a strong score of 310 runs, in response to which India started aggressively. Vaibhav Suryavanshi started the run chase with his explosive batting and scored a half-century.
But he could not stay at the crease for long.Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 68 runs in just 33 balls in this match, which included 9 fours and 4 sixes. Thanks to this inning, he made a partnership of 90 runs with Aaron George in 57 balls. Vaibhav completed his half-century in just 24 balls and his strike rate was above 206, which made the chase easier. But Vaibhav once again repeated his old mistake and got caught at mid-wicket while playing a pull shot on the short ball. This wicket fell in the 10th over, which shocked the team.
The surprising thing is that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has played a total of 6 matches in this tournament and out of them 4 times he has been out within 10 overs.
Despite a fast start and scoring good runs, staying at the crease for a long time remains a challenge for him. Even during the warm-up match, he was already out once in the powerplay. Due to which Vaibhav has scored more than 50 runs thrice in the tournament, but none of the innings could convert into a century. If he overcomes this weakness and plays long innings, it can be very easy for India to win the match. This tournament has been very good for Vaibhav Suryavanshi so far.
He has scored 264 runs in 6 innings at an average of 44.00. Which includes 26 fours and 15 sixes. He is also the batsman who has hit the most sixes in the tournament. His strike rate is also 147.48, which is quite high considering the ODI format.
