Team India started its preparations before the Super-8 round match against South Africa. After the end of the group stage matches in T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team took a break of one day. After this break, Team India came for practice for the first time on Friday. While everyone's eyes were on Abhishek Sharma in this session, during the practice all the focus went on star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj.
The reason behind this was Hardik Pandya, one of whose shots hit Siraj and he got injured. On February 20, two days before the match of Super-8 round. team india Practiced in the evening at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. When Team India's batsmen were practicing in the nets, Hardik Pandya hit a powerful shot. The shot was so fast that the ball went straight to the knee of fast bowler Siraj. What happened next, Siraj groaned in pain and sat on the field.
On seeing this scene, other players including Hardik immediately reached him.Seeing Siraj in pain, Team India's medical staff immediately reached there and started examining him. The physio applied ice on Siraj's knee and examined him for some time. It is a matter of relief that Siraj's injury was not very serious and he soon stood up. This is not the first case when Team India has been injured by its own player in practice. Just a few days ago, Ishan Kishan got injured in his leg by a fast ball of Jasprit Bumrah. However, there too it was a matter of relief that the matter was not serious.
As far as Siraj's injury is concerned, the Indian pacer joined the practice session again after some time, but even during this time he looked worried for some time. However, Siraj's injury will not be much of a problem for Team India because Siraj is not the first choice in the playing-11. Team India will field against South Africa with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh as two fast bowlers in the playing-11. In this also, it would not be surprising if any spinner gets a chance in place of Arshdeep.
