SL vs ENG Super-8: Half the team collapsed in just 35 balls, after Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka lost badly even to England

Tournament co-host Sri Lanka, which made a promising start in the T20 World Cup 2026, has faced its second consecutive defeat. Sri Lanka, which had lost to Zimbabwe in its last match of the group stage, suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of England by 51 runs in the very first match of the Super-8 round.

In response to the target of 147 runs set by England, the Sri Lankan team could not even score 100 runs and collapsed for only 95 runs. In this way, England won its 12th consecutive T20 match against Sri Lanka and secured the first position in Group-2 of Super-8.
