Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said that India will continue to play the same brand of cricket in the remaining T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight games despite the demoralising 76-run loss to South Africa in Ahmedabad.

Answering a question on how India will regroup ahead of the next two encounters during the post-match presentation, Surya said: “Hopefully bat well, bowl well and field well. Keep it simple. That is what we will try to do.”

The skipper said that the team recovered well with the ball after South Africa dominated between overs 7-15 and it was the batting that left a lot to be desired.

“We were always in the game when we started. Bowled really well in the beginning. From 7-15, they batted really well and then we came back. Bowled really well but could have batted better. Sometimes, you have to think you cannot win the game in the powerplay but you can lose it,” Surya said.

“(We) did not have the partnerships we needed. Part of the game. We will learn from it. Sit back and bounce back,” he added.

The loss to the Proteas leaves India with two do-or-die contests against Zimbabwe and West Indies if it hopes to progress to the semifinal.
