Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are not part of BCCI's central contract but now Jay Shah has told who took the decision of not giving them the contract.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah answered many questions in a recent interview. A few months ago, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were dropped from the list of centrally contracted players and now Jay Shah has answered this question as well. Shah has told that this was not his decision but the decision of the selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and this decision was taken only on his advice.

Kishan and Iyer were dropped from BCCI's central contracts for not participating in domestic tournaments despite BCCI's orders. Kishan took a long break after the ODI World Cup last year and was unavailable till the IPL. At the same time, Iyer played some Ranji Trophy matches for Mumbai, which included the semi-finals and final. However, Iyer faced trouble when it was revealed that he had attended the KKR camp in Mumbai when his home team was playing a Ranji Trophy match.

Now Jay Shah, while talking to the media at the BCCI headquarters on Thursday, said, “You can check the constitution. I am just the convener (of the selection meeting). This decision is of Ajit Agarkar, even if these two players (Ishan Kishan And Shreyas Iyer) who did not play domestic cricket, it was only his decision to drop them (from the central contract list) my role is only that I implemented it and we have also got new players like Sanju (Samson). No one is indispensable.”

Days before the contracts of both these players were cancelled, Jay Shah had said ahead of the third Test between India and England in February this year that he would take action against players who do not meet the requirements of the Indian captain and team management. Will fully support the decision of the Chief Selector. Shah claimed that he talked to the players after removing them for participation in domestic cricket.

He said, “Yes, I spoke to him. The media also carried the news. Even Hardik (Pandya) said that if the BCCI is considering me for the white ball, then I will play for the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Any player who plays well in the IPL will have to play, even if he doesn't want to, as Ishan Kishan says. There is difficulty but as a player he can play comfortably in Team India, he has to prove himself as one who can handle it. Can be called a true player.”
