Rachin Ravindra had an impressive outing with both bat and ball in the Super 8 clash between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in the 2026 T20 World Cup on Wednesday, February 25. The conditions were spin-friendly, but Ravindra batted with solid technique and looked elegant as ever during his 32-run knock off 22 balls. However, his performance with the ball in the second innings was even better.

Chasing a 169-run target, Sri Lanka lost two wickets inside the first three overs, with only six runs on the board. The Lankan Lions' problems went from bad to worse in the ninth over as Ravindra bowled two beautiful deliveries to dismiss Kusal Mendis and Pavan Rathnayake.

With his first ball, Ravindra tossed a delivery well outside the off-stump, and Mendis ran towards it to hit an aggressive shot. However, the ball turned and bounced past Mendis' bat, and Tim Seifert completed a fabulous take behind the stumps. Mendis tried to get back to the crease, but the Kiwi wicketkeeper didn't take much time to knock the bails off.

Ravindra bowled a wide on the following delivery. However, the left-arm spinner bounced back on the very next ball to get the better of Rathnayake.

It was another delivery bowled with a wide line, luring Rathnayake to dance down the track, trying to hit a lofted shot. However, the ball turned past the bat and settled in the mitts of Seifert, who completed another tidy stumping.

Ravindra eventually finished with career-best figures of 4/27 in his four-over spell.

Sri Lanka were eventually restricted to 107/8 in their 20 overs.
