T20 World Cup: Wicket on first ball, then 19 runs in 7 balls, 21 year old player superhit in debut itself

The England cricket team had made a loose start in the T20 World Cup 2026 and in the very first match the team was saved from being upset. Then in the second match he suffered a crushing defeat against West Indies. But since then, the performance of the team captained by Harry Brook has improved and for the first time this team made it to the semi-finals.

Now before the semi-finals, this team tried those players in the last match of Super-8, who had not got a chance till now. Out of this, a 21 year old bowler took advantage of this and gave a strong performance and gave the team a thrilling victory with his all-round performance.

After defeating Sri Lanka and Pakistan in their first two matches of the Super-8 round. England Made it to the semi-finals. In such a situation, in its last match against New Zealand, the team made some changes and also gave a chance to 21 year old leg spinner Rehan Ahmed.

This bowler did not disappoint his team and stopped New Zealand from scoring big by taking 2 wickets for 28 runs in 3 overs.

First match, first ball and amazing

This match was very special for Rehan Ahmed because with it he also made his debut in the T20 World Cup. Rehan Ahmed, who has played 12 T20 matches for England so far, was getting a chance to play in an ICC tournament for the first time and he made it memorable. In the 12th over of New Zealand's innings, Brook handed the ball to Rehan and he did wonders on the very first ball.

This spinner started with a googly and directly took the wicket of Rachin Ravindra.

Rehan, who gave only 16 runs in his first two overs, won the trust of captain Harry Brook so much that the last over of the innings was also bowled by him, which proved to be a bit costly but here too he took the wicket. He hit a four on the second ball of the 20th over but also took a wicket on the very next ball. If New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner had not hit a six on the last ball of the over, this over would have also been great. He gave 12 runs in the 20th over, due to which New Zealand was able to reach 159 runs.

The game turned in just 7 balls

After doing wonders with the ball, it was his turn to contribute with the bat and Rehan did just that. His entry at the crease came at a time when England needed about 44 runs to win in 19 balls. There was Will Jacques from the other end but England also needed help from Rehan, who came at number 8. This young player turned the match by scoring unbeaten 19 runs in just 7 balls and along with Jacques made an unbeaten 44-run partnership in just 16 balls to make the team win.
