T20 World Cup 2026: If India-England semi-final match is cancelled, then who will get the ticket for the final? This is the rule of ICC

IND vs ENG Semifinal, T20 World Cup 2026: T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached the knockout stage. Apart from India, South Africa, England and New Zealand have made their place in the semi-finals. The first semi-final match will be played between the teams of South Africa and New Zealand.

At the same time, Team India will face England, this match will be played on 5th February at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. But the biggest question is that what will happen if the result of this match is not found on the 5th?

What will happen if India-England semi-final match is cancelled?

The semi-final is a knockout match, whichever team loses will be out of the tournament. In such a situation, ICC has made special rules for these big matches. In the group stage and Super-8 round, if the match is not played on the scheduled date, both the teams are given 1 point each.

But this will not happen in the semi-finals. ICC has kept reserve days for both the semi-finals. If the match is not completed on the match day due to rain or bad weather, then the match will be played on the reserve day.

But what will happen if the result is not out even on the reserve day? According to ICC rules, if there is no result in the match in the knockout stage (semi-finals and final), then a team will get the ticket for the final on the basis of Super-8 round. Whichever team finishes on top in the Super-8 round will reach the finals.

Let us tell you, England was on top in Group 2 and India had qualified from Group 1 by being second. In such a situation, if the India-England semi-final match is cancelled, England will reach the final and Team India will be eliminated without playing.

Who will get the advantage in the first semi-final?

The first semi-final match of the tournament will be played between South Africa and New Zealand on March 4 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. A reserve day has been kept for this match also. But if this match is also cancelled, the South African team will qualify for the final. Actually, South Africa had topped Group-1 and New Zealand had finished the Super-8 round at second position.

In such a situation, South Africa will benefit.
