Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat Titans, played a crucial role in helping his team returns to the winning ways on Friday, May 10. When GT played against CSK at home, they put up a mammoth total of 231 runs, which proved sufficient to register their fifth win.

With the victory, GT are still in hunt for the playoffs. They now have 10 points from 12 games. At the post-match press conference, Gill stated that all GT players were hoping for good outcome and felt that with two games left, they might still finish in the top four.

Gill stormed back in form with a blazing century in Ahmedabad. Gill’s performance this season has fallen short of that of the IPL 2023, when he amassed around 900 runs. He is in the reserves list of players for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

“Even though our qualifying chances are 0.1 ot 1%, our entire squad is positive that we can still make it. In the past 2 years, I have seen miracles and we all are positive,” Gill said.

Gill felt that they were 10-25 runs short as they were 190/0 in 15 overs. Gill also discussed his opening partnership of 210 runs with Sai Sudharsan, stating that they were attempting to make the most of their chances.

“I was a little disappointed when I got out. As a batting unit, I believed we were 10–25 runs short. We were 195/0 in 15 overs so I was considering that 250 was a solid score. Sai and I were talking about how crucial it was for us to win this game because we had lost our previous three. Every over, we attempted to make the most of our opportunities.”

The GT captain concluded by talking about MS Dhoni.

“No matter where Mahi bhai plays, it’s CSK’s home ground, but at least we had support when we scored, whereas when we go to Chepauk, there’s total silence when we hit boundaries or take a wicket.”
