The cricket community is anticipating a massive shift as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gets ready to hire a new head coach for the men’s team, possibly signaling the end of Rahul Dravid’s term. Jay Shah, the secretary of the cricket board, recently spoke about the process of hiring a new coach.
Batting legend Rahul Dravid took over as head coach in November 2021. A new age of discipline, resiliency, and commitment dawned in Indian cricket. His extensive playing background and in-depth knowledge of the game enabled him to shape a squad that captured the essence of Indian cricket while adjusting to the dynamic nature of the game.
According to TOI, Dravid is not considering to reapply for the position of the head coach of the Indian team.
The Indian squad saw tremendous success under Dravid’s tenure. He established himself as one of the best coaches in Indian cricket history by leading the team through difficult circumstances with his cool head and strategic insight.
The BCCI now has a huge task of selecting a deserving candidate to guide the Indian cricket team as Dravid’s tenure draws to an end. The team full of skill and potential will be handed over to the new head coach, who will be hired for a three-year term that includes the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Although Dravid is free to reapply for the job, there’s a chance that he will not, which could result in an entirely new turnaround in Indian cricket. In order to ensure a thorough search for the best candidate, the BCCI is welcoming candidates from India and other countries to apply for the role.
Along with the selection of the new head coach, there will be changes in the coaching staff, with the batting, bowling, and fielding coaches to be chosen along with the new lead. The goal of this calculated move is to form a cohesive team that can deal with the demands of modern cricket, where creativity and agility are critical.
