This is a big blow for Delhi from playoff point of view. Delhi could not bowl the full 20 overs in the allotted time against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday (May 7). So the Delhi Capitals captain has been punished. Pant has paid a fine of lakhs of rupees twice this year due to slow-over rates.

30 lakh fine and one match ban

As per IPL rules, a team captain found guilty of slow over rate in a match has to pay a fine of Rs 12 lakh. If the same team did it a second time, the captain had to pay Rs 24 lakh. According to the rules, if a team does so for the third time, the captain is fined Rs 30 lakh and banned for one match.

Due to the slow over rate in the match against Rajasthan Royals, not only Pant but all the other players in the team will have to pay Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of the match fee.

RCB-Delhi match is do or die for both teams

The match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take place on Sunday. On the one hand, DC is fifth in the points table with 12 points. On the other hand, RCB currently have 10 points and are ranked 7th in the points table. If both teams want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they will have to win the next game at any cost.

A win for Delhi would boost their chances of finishing in the top-4, which would knock RCB out of the playoff race. But in Rishabh Pant's absence, Delhi's path does not look easy.
