In the high-scoring IPL 2024, MI fast bowler Gerald Coetzee praised Jasprit Bumrah. With 18 wickets from 12 matches, Bumrah is the tournament’s second-highest wicket scorer.

Speaking to press ahead of MI’s clash with KKR. Coetzee lauded Bumrah for his simplicity and accuracy. The South African bowler hailed Bumrah as the tournament’s best bowler.

“He’s been absolutely fantastic. It comes down to simplicity and accuracy. The way he has been bowling, he’s performed better than all bowlers in the tournament,” opined Coetzee.

Coetzee who is playing his debut IPL season, shared his experience of the league and described it extremely challenging.

“It’s been amazing. It has lived up to the hype, in my opinion. From a cricket perspective, it’s been extremely demanding, which is just what I want for a career,” he stated.

The 23 year old also revealed that he has learned a lot and looks to improve.

“It seems like I’ve learned a lot. I’ve performed well. I’m not perfect. I’ll accept it, and maybe in future IPLs, I may return and rectify,” Coetzee added.

Even though MI has lost eight games this season, Coetzee claims that the team’s negative performance hasn’t affected morale in the dressing room.

Gerald also backed newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya calling him an ‘excellent captain’.

“Pandya has proven to be an excellent captain,” he said.

“I believe that various captains have different styles of captaincy; each captain has their own distinct style that sets them apart from one another. He has performed admirably. He has been a great source of inspiration for the boys and has been very clear about the plans.”
