Former SRH coach Tom Moody believes Shubman Gill’s knock against CSK has solidify his place among the game’s elite performers. Gill scored 104 runs off 54 balls. His knock played a decisive role in his team’s 35-run victory.

With their partnership of 210 runs for the first wicket, Shubman and Sai Sudharsan broke numerous IPL records. Sai contributed equally, scoring 103 off 51 balls.

Shubman Gill assumed the mantle of GT’s leader following Hardik Pandya’s transfer to MI. The 24-year old hasn’t been able to display his typical batting prowess and only scored 322 runs in his 12 matches prior to the CSK game in IPL 2024.

“Firstly, as a captain he would be thrilled to win because that’s the top priority. He would be over the moon as he has scored a ton after a while. He would be happy for two reasons. To begin with, the century shows how much he contributed to the team’s win,” said the former Aussie all-rounder.

“Secondly, it verifies that he is a world class player. He is obviously devastated that he would not be playing for India in the T20 World Cup. It has significantly affected his performance in the IPL this year,” Moody continued.

Along with Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Khaleed Ahmed, Shubman has been listed in the reserves list for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
