Lucknow: Indian team's young opening batsman Shubhman Gill has not got a place in the squad of ICC T-20 World Cup 2024. However, he has been kept among the reserve players. The main reason for his exclusion from the World Cup team has been his poor form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Gill did not perform particularly well this season but on Friday he answered everyone by scoring a brilliant century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Now former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has given a big statement regarding Gill. He believes that after Gill is dropped from the World Cup team, he will emerge as an even better player. Not only this, Shubman must have been saddened by this but he will explain it away. Let us tell you that the right-handed batsman has not been selected for the World Cup team because young player Yashasvi Jaiswal has been selected in his place as the opening batsman. However, while talking to Star Sports on this issue, Shastri has given a big statement.
He said, “He must have been saddened by not getting a place in the World Cup team. Gill should take this thing in a positive form and try to become better. With the potential that Shubman has, he will get a place in any team but Bharta has so much talent that he is not getting a place in the team. This will keep his class moving forward and even though he is not in the World Cup team at the moment, he can take it forward. This will help him become a better player and become stronger.”
Let us tell you that on May 10, the match was played between Chennai and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first in this match, Captain Gill played a century and played an important role in his team's victory. The 24-year-old played an innings of 104 runs facing 55 balls in this match and during this he hit 9 fours and 6 sixes. If we talk about IPL 2024, he has scored 426 runs in 12 matches at an average of 38.73 and strike rate of 147.4. During this period, one century and two half-centuries have come from his bat.
