Uproar over T20 World Cup trophy being taken to Hanuman temple, Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir did this

Kirti Azad, T20 World Cup Trophy: India won the T20 World Cup 2026 trophy by defeating New Zealand. After winning the trophy, it was taken to the famous Tekri Hanuman temple in Ahmedabad, which has now created a ruckus. The uproar over taking the trophy to Hanuman temple has arisen due to the question raised by former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad.

Kirti Azad has said that the trophy belongs to every religion. Then why was he taken to only one religious place?

Uproar over trophy going to Hanuman temple

After defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final of T20 World Cup 2026, Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Suryakumar Yadav and ICC President Jay Shah went to Hanuman Temple to seek blessings for the trophy. Kirti Azad said that Team India does not just represent the family of Suryakumar Yadav or Jai Shah, but the whole of India and there are players from every religion in that team.

Kirti Azad raised questions in the name of religion

Kirti Azad said that Mohammad Siraj never went to the mosque with the trophy. Sanju Samson never took her to any church, even though he played an important role in making her win. He was also the Player of the Tournament of T20 World Cup 2026. Now, when there is no mosque, no church, no Gurudwara, then why was the trophy taken to the temple? The trophy won by the team belongs to Indians of every religion.
