While talking on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said that the job of a team manager is not to get involved in the matters of the players. They just have to keep an eye on the management, coach and players and know what's going on. Veeru said,

“It is the role of the owner to meet the players in the dressing room and motivate them. They asked what was happening? What is the problem? And try to know what is going on in the management, keep track of every player, see the coach. I think the owners should not get involved in other matters with the players.”

Virender Sehwag further said in his statement, “The rest are also businessmen. They are concerned with profit and loss, but here you are not incurring any loss. You are getting a profit of more than Rs 400 crore. I believe this is a business where you don't have to do anything. You are just getting profit, so your job is to motivate the players. What will happen if a player starts thinking that there are more franchises in IPL? If you lose any player, your chances of winning will be lost.”

Actually, after the crushing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 8, KL Rahul looked quite disappointed. Meanwhile, a video surfaced on social media, in which Lucknow franchise owner Sanjeev Goenka was speaking passionately to Rahul after the match and he was silently listening to him. As soon as this video surfaced, it spread like wildfire across the internet and fans were enraged by the treatment meted out to KL.
