The T20 World Cup is just a few days away and it appears that all is not well between Team India captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.

Actually, the controversy started by Mumbai Indians by removing Rohit and making Hardik Pandya the captain before IPL 2024 is still not over. Now the poor chemistry between these two players could prove to be a problem in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Mumbai are out of the IPL playoff race and 4 of their players Rohit, Hardik, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are part of the Indian World Cup squad.

Hardik was not present when Rohit Sharma came for practice. Also, according to sources, most of the players in the Mumbai Indians team are in support of Rohit, while the foreign players follow the instructions of captain Pandya. Due to this, the performance of Mumbai Indians in this season was very bad.

When Mumbai dropped 5 trophy winning captain Rohit and handed over the reins of the team to Hardik, even his fans did not like the decision. Pandya also faced the wrath of the crowd in the opening matches and was trolled well on social media. But it was hoped that things would settle down with time, but the dispute has not subsided yet.

Rohit may quit T20 cricket

It is believed that Rohit may leave the format after the T20 World Cup. The board is considering Hardik as the future T20 captain. After the last T20 World Cup, Hardik was given the captaincy of the team in several T20 series and the Indian team also performed brilliantly under his leadership.

However, the environment has changed now. It will be interesting to see if Rohit Hardik will be included in the playing XI in the World Cup.

Hardik's performance in the IPL has not been anything special and he has scored only 198 runs and taken 11 wickets in 12 matches. He could take only 4 wickets in the first 7 matches.
