Luck can change anytime in the game of cricket. The player who does not get a chance for many years, sometimes makes a record as soon as he arrives. A legend who once performed brilliantly suddenly starts failing miserably. But such a turn in the fortunes of the new owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL has rarely been seen before.
Yes, the current IPL champion Royal Challengers Bangalore has been sold before the start of the new season and it has now got 4 new owners. Among these, there is one owner who is only 28 years old and was once a part of a team in IPL but could not even make his debut. Name is Aryaman Vikram Birla. On Tuesday, March 24, the news came which was awaited for the last few months. Which won the IPL title for the first time last year Sale of Royal Challengers Bangalore It was announced only last year and on March 24, the consortium to buy it was also announced.
Aditya Birla Group, Times of India Group, Bolt Ventures and Blackstone together bought the franchise with a bid of Rs 16600 crore. The sale of Bengaluru came at a time when the franchise won the IPL title last year and the WPL title for the second time this year. After this deal, how much share each team will have in RCB is yet to be announced, but an announcement was made which surprised everyone. After this sale, it was announced in a joint press release that Aditya Birla Group director Aryaman Vikram Birla will be the new chairman of RCB and this is the most special thing about this sale.
Aryaman, son of Birla Group owner Kumar Mangalam Birla, became the boss of the most expensive team of IPL at the age of just 28, which is very special in itself.View this post on Instagram
But Aryaman becoming the chairman of RCB is also special because a few years ago he himself was a part of IPL as a cricketer. Yes, before entering his family's business, Aryaman was a cricketer and had played in Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy for Madhya Pradesh. Here he scored 450 runs in a total of 13 matches. During this time, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL auction in 2018 by bidding Rs 30 lakh. This was the first time when he entered the IPL. He was only 20 years old at that time but he did not get a chance to play even a single match in the entire season and his dream of playing in this league remained unfulfilled.
One year later i.e. in 2019, he played his last match in domestic cricket and then soon joined his father in the family business. Then hardly anyone would have thought that after 8 years the same Aryaman Birla would become the owner of the most expensive team of IPL. Coincidentally, he was declared the chairman of RCB on the same day when the sale of Rajasthan Royals was also announced. Royals were bought by an American consortium for Rs 15,300 crore and within a short time the consortium of Birla Group bought RCB, beating the price of Royals.
