Anukul Roy Catch and Run out: Mumbai Indians' opening pair Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton batted brilliantly against Kolkata Knight Riders in the second match of IPL 2026. Chasing the target of 221 runs, both the batsmen added 148 runs for the first wicket in just 11.5 overs.

Both players were easily moving towards a century, but Anukul Roy's agility and quickness deprived him of a century. The same player gave a big blow to Mumbai by sending both the openers to the pavilion.

Brilliant catch to dismiss Rohit

Rohit Sharma played an aggressive inning of 78 runs in 38 balls in this match. The Hitman was rapidly moving towards his century, but he had to be out in the 12th over of the innings. Rohit tried to slog the ball of Vaibhav Arora, but the ball went up after hitting the top edge. Anukul Roy took a brilliant catch by making a full length dive while running backwards from mid-on.

Ryan Rickleton was run out

Ryan Rickleton also remained just a few runs away from a century. He scored 81 runs on 43 balls.

But in the 16th over of the innings, Rickleton played a shot towards long-off on the ball of Blessing Muzarabani and tried to take two runs. Then Tilak Verma sent him back, but when Rickleton was returning to the non-striker's end, Muzarabani came in the way. Meanwhile, Anukul Roy hit a brilliant direct throw from deep and blew away the stumps. Due to which Rickleton was run out.

This run out was a bit strange, as Muzarabani was trying to get in line with the ball and this caused Rickleton difficulty in finding a way. However, it was not a case of deliberate blocking. Due to which Ryan Rickleton was declared out. However, these setbacks did not cause much damage to Mumbai and the team achieved an easy victory.
