IPL 2026: Who is Brijesh Sharma? Father worked as a laborer and became a cricketer, gave water to CSK in the debut match itself

Every year some new players make their mark in IPL, the world's most popular and toughest T20 league. Most of these players have been those who have come from small towns and reach this position after facing difficult situations. In the third match of the IPL 2026 season, one such new player proved himself, who reached here after facing a lot of difficulties.

While debuting for Rajasthan Royals in the first match against Chennai Super Kings, fast bowler Brijesh Sharma showed his strength and also took the first wicket.

With this match played in Guwahati, 27 year old fast bowler Brijesh made his IPL debut. He was bought by Rajasthan at the base price of Rs 30 lakh in the auction held in December itself. This was the first time that Brijesh was bought by an IPL team and he got a chance to debut in the very first match. This right-arm fast bowler spent only 17 runs in his 3 overs and also took the wicket of Karthik Sharma, who was bought for Rs 14.20 crore.

But the journey to reach here was not easy at all for Brijesh. Not only does he come from a financially weak family, but he also had to leave his city and his state to pursue his cricket career. Brijesh is a resident of Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. After being bought in the IPL auction, this bowler had told in an interview that his father works as a laborer and despite this the father left no stone unturned to make his son a cricketer. Not only his father, but his friends also supported Brijesh well and provided financial help when needed and also encouraged him in difficult times.

However, his career was not progressing while staying in Udhampur, after which he moved to Bengal and has now joined the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). However, here too, Brijesh has not yet got a chance to play cricket for Bengal, but he definitely got a place in the Bengal T20 League organized by CAB. Here he made his mark by taking 11 wickets in 7 matches and it was from here that IPL scouts noticed him, after which he got entry in Rajasthan Royals.
