Delhi: The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, was to be played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which was canceled due to rain. Its impact fell on Gujarat, due to which the challenge of the Gujarat team captained by Shubman Gill to reach the playoffs ended.
Before this match, GT had two matches left, where their team needed to win both the matches to reach the playoffs, but due to the cancellation of the match against Kolkata, they got only one point. Now even if they win the last match, they will be able to score only 13 points. With 13 points they cannot enter the play offs. Gujarat became the third team to be eliminated from the playoffs. At the same time, Knight Riders remain at the top position with 19 points.
On the other hand, now three out of 10 teams – Gujarat Titans (GT), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are out of the playoffs, while KKR has qualified for the playoffs. Now only Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are left in the race. Apart from Hyderabad, Lucknow and Rajasthan, the remaining 4 teams have played 13-13 matches.
CSK has 14 points after 13 matches, RCB has 12 points after 13 matches and DC has 12 points after 13 matches, while Rajasthan has 16 points after 12 matches, Hyderabad has 14 points after 12 matches and Lucknow has 12 points after 12 matches.
Which 3 more teams will be included in the play-offs?
At the same time, the real threat remains on CSK, RCB and DC, because they have only one match. On May 18, the teams of CSK and RCB will face each other, while on Tuesday DC will face LSG and if they lose, the Delhi team will be out of the playoffs. Now only 7 matches are left in the current season of IPL. In such a situation, it remains to be seen which 3 more teams will reach the play-offs. It is known that KKR became the first team to reach the top four.
