Sameer Rizvi played an important innings for Delhi Capitals in their six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2026 on April 1. Chasing 142, Delhi were 26 for 4 at one stage, but Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs added 119 runs for the fifth wicket to take the team home. Prince Yadav took two wickets, but it was not enough in the end. Mohsin Khan and Mohammed Shami dismissed one batter each.
Earlier, the host franchise failed in the batting department and failed to play 20 overs. They were dismissed for 141 in 18.4 overs, with only Abdul Samad (36) and Mitchell Marsh (35) showing some form with the bat. Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan picked up three wickets each while Kuldeep Yadav claimed two scalps.
DC 145/4 (Sameer Rizvi*, Tristan Stubbs 39*, Prince Yadav 2 wickets) beat LSG 141 (Abdul Samad 36, Lungi Ngidi 3 wickets, T Natarajan 3 wickets) by 6 wickets.
LSG suffered a batting collapse, which didn’t allow them to post a challenging total. The 100-plus partnership between Rizvi and Stubbs ended Lucknow’s chances. Sameer hit 5 fours and 4 sixes. On the other hand, Tristan smashed 3 boundaries and 1 six.
Sameer Rizvi was named the Player of the Match for scoring an unbeaten 70 runs.
