New Delhi, April 2, 2026: Former India leg spinner Piyush Chawla on Wednesday described Rishabh Pant’s wicket as the turning point of the game in the IPL 2026 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC).

Geostar expert Piyush Chawla said that Lucknow openers Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant got off to a strong start, but Pant’s runout, which resulted from a brilliant effort by Mukesh Kumar, proved to turn the match in favor of Delhi Capitals.

Chawla said, “For me, Pant’s dismissal in the powerplay was the turning point of the game for Delhi. It is very important that the opening batsmen give an aggressive start to their team. The new pairing of Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant looked good. They added 19 runs for the first wicket. Marsh was putting pressure on the bowlers, while Pant was batting with composure. But when Pant got out, it proved to be the turning point. After getting out, other batsmen also could not perform well and the pressure increased on Marsh.”

The former Indian cricketer praised Mukesh Kumar and mentioned his calmness and composure in Pant’s runout. “Credit to Mukesh Kumar for maintaining his composure during this over and running Pant out with the ball. Rishabh Pant will want to forget this wicket quickly,” added Chawla.

Delhi Capitals started the 2026 IPL season with an emphatic six-wicket win in Lucknow.

Sameer Rizvi played an unbeaten inning of 70 runs in 47 balls, helping his team easily overcome the challenging target of 142 runs with 17 balls to spare and 6 wickets.
