Indian women’s hockey team to travel to Argentina for a four-match series

The matches will be held at the National Center of High Performance Athletics Center in Argentina on 13, 14, 16 and 17 April.

New Delhi. India’s senior women’s hockey team will tour Argentina for a four-match series. The matches of this series will be played at CANARD in Buenos Aires from 13 to 17 April. The Indian team will play its matches on April 13, 14, 16 and 17 at the National Center of High Performance Athletics Center in Argentina.

Some tough matches have been played between India and Argentina recently. These also include the match of FIH Pro League 2024-25 in June last year, which was decided in a penalty shootout after being tied at 2-2. This tour of the Indian team is very important from the point of view of preparation for the FIH Hockey World Cup to be held in Belgium and Netherlands and the Asian Games to be held later this year. This will also give the Indian team an opportunity to try different combinations.

Indian women’s hockey team head coach Shard Marin said that we are going to Argentina with a team of 24 players. This is a conscious decision. The aim of this tour is to give as many players as possible a chance to perform at the top level. Argentina is one of the best teams in the world and this series will give us an opportunity to test each player. We want to see who can perform better when needed.

He said that to make a place in this team, you will first have to prove that you are a team player. Individual talent is important but if you cannot coordinate with this team and help each other then it will be difficult for you to make a place in this team.

Both the men’s and women’s World Cups will be held simultaneously in Belgium and the Netherlands from August 15 to 30, while the Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
