Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented another new rule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams. This time the movement of players sitting on the bench has been banned during the match. According to the new rule, no player other than the 16 players included in the team sheet will be able to enter the field. This means that they will not be able to enter the field even for purposes like carrying drinks, bats or messages.

BCCI tightened rules

According to the report of Cricbuzz, the teams have been told that only a maximum of five players wearing bibs (jackets) can be present near the boundary line at any time during the match. This group can also include 16 players selected from the team and players from the rest of the squad, but the total number cannot be more than five. The remaining players can remain in the dugout, but will not be allowed to move in the area between the boundary line and the LED advertising board.

It has also been told in the report that this new rule is linked to the already existing rules of IPL. One of these is rule 11.5.2, which explains how drinks should be delivered to players on the field, this should be done without wasting time and in correct cricket attire.

The second rule 24.1.4 is to those players. Who are not in the playing eleven or substitute fielder. Such players are required to wear training bibs (jackets) while on the field, especially in the area between the boundary and fencing.
