IPL is the number one T20 tournament in the world. It is the goal of every cricketer to join this league, but not every player is able to take advantage of this golden opportunity. The Indian Premier League is a place where bowlers trouble the batsmen a lot.
Additionally, the pressure of the T20 format forces batsmen to play aggressively and at times this results in the batsman getting out on a duck. It is quite shameful to be out for zero in any IPL match. Millions of spectators come every night to watch the match. Therefore, players aim to perform at their best every evening.
As is the nature of cricket, the best performances do not come out every day and sometimes batsmen get out even on a duck. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell holds the record for most wickets by an overseas batsman in the history of the league, registering 17 wickets.
On that note, here is a list of the two Indian players who hold the record for being out for a duck the most number of times in the history of the Indian Premier League.
2. Rohit Sharma – Zero 17 times
Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is second in this list of being out on zero 17 times in IPL. The right-handed batsman has won six trophies in his career. He has helped his teams win many matches, but there were 17 such occasions where the Hitman failed to leave his mark.
1. Dinesh Karthik – 18 nil
Dinesh Karthik has become the new undisputed owner of the unwanted record of being out on zero for the most number of times in the history of the league. The current batsmen of Royal Challengers Bangalore have been out on zero 18 times. No other batsman – whether Indian or foreign – has been out on a duck so many times.
