Iyer shines as Punjab Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad had given a target of 220 runs to Punjab Kings.

Mullanpur. Punjab Kings registered their third win by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets with the help of captain Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten inning of 69 runs in 33 balls.

After the innings of openers Priyansh Arya (57 runs) and Prabhsimran Singh (51 runs), ‘Player of the Match’ Iyer batted aggressively and did not let the team come under pressure. Five sixes and the same number of fours were hit in his innings. With this, the team achieved the target by scoring 223 runs for four wickets in 18.5 overs.

After being invited to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored a score of 219 runs for six wickets with a half-century from opener Abhishek Sharma (74 runs) and a partnership of 120 runs in 50 balls for the first wicket with Travis Head.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s left-arm wrist spinner Shivang Kumar took the first three wickets of Punjab Kings but could not stop Punjab Kings from registering victory. This is Hyderabad’s second consecutive defeat.
