An exciting contest awaits in match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2026 as five-time champions Mumbai Indians will go against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12.
Both the sides share one of the fiercest rivalries in the league and with passionate fan bases behind them, it promises to be a contest worth watching.
Mumbai Indians started their campaign with a sensational win against Kolkata Knight Riders but since then things have not gone their way.
They have faced back to back defeats and now find themselves in a spot where they need to bounce back quickly.Led by Hardik Pandya, the side still has some of the biggest names in the history of the league. From Rohit Sharma to Jasprit Bumrah, the squad looks strong on paper and easily one of the most balanced teams this season. It is just about getting things right on the field now.
Talking about Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they tasted their first defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals and will also be keen to get back on track.
Led by Rajat Patidar, the batting unit has not quite fired yet even with players like Virat Kohli and Philip Salt in the top order. The bowling however looks sorted with the return of Josh Hazlewood and that makes them look like a more complete side despite the previous loss.
These two teams have produced some proper edge of the seat games over the years and the rivalry has only grown stronger with time. In terms of head-to-head record, Mumbai Indians are ahead.
Virat Kohli – The highest run scorer in IPL history has got starts this season but has not been able to convert them into big scores.
With Salt not in great form, a lot will depend on him at the top.Rohit Sharma – Another experienced campaigner who has been a bit quiet in the last game. Rohit is one of the most destructive openers in this format and can change the game in a matter of overs.
jasprit bumrah – Despite his massive calibre, he has not performed as expected so far.
But he is that kind of bowler who can turn things around anytime and this could well be his game.Josh Hazlewood – Picked up two wickets on his return and looked in good rhythm. Given his experience and understanding with the franchise, he will once again be crucial with the ball.
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, AM Ghazanfar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah.
Impact Player: Sherfane Rutherford
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Virat Kohli, Philip Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhinandan Singh, Josh Hazlewood.
Impact Player: Suyash Sharma
Two teams with a rich history and some of the biggest names in the league. It feels like a neck-to-neck contest. Mumbai Indians have got serious firepower in their batting and playing at Wankhede always gives them that extra push. It is a batting friendly surface and that could suit their style a lot more.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have a strong setup as well and the momentum is still there despite the last defeat. But given the conditions and the kind of batting Mumbai Indians have, they might just have a slight edge in this one.
Prediction: Mumbai Indians to win this match.
