Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team's batting coach Michael Hussey wants Chennai's great wicketkeeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni to continue playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 'next few years'. As another season of IPL is about to end, speculations are once again being made on Dhoni's future. After retiring from international cricket in 2020, Mahi continues to play in the IPL. Only Dhoni has the answer to this question as to when he will retire.

On ESPN's Around the Wicket show, when Hussey was asked whether Dhoni would return next year, he said, “Your guess at this stage is as good as mine. He keeps his cards very close to his chest. We hope he continues to do so. He is still batting very well. He prepares well. He reaches the camp very early and hits a lot of balls. “He has been really brilliant all season.”
He further said, “He had knee surgery after last season, so he has been managing it since the early stages of the tournament. From a personal standpoint, I hope he keeps doing this for the next few years, but we'll just have to wait and see. He is the only person who will take this decision.”
Dhoni's blast in IPL 2024
Despite knee surgery last year, the wicketkeeper batsman is struggling with pain. Despite this problem, Dhoni has played an important role for his team. He has been successful in scoring 136 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 226.66. During this period he has also hit many sixes. He is batting lower in the order.
Hussey expressed hope, “I know the fans probably want to see him bat a little higher up the order, but because of (knee surgery) we have had to manage him a bit and he only comes in at the back end, but There is no one better than MS in batting so aggressively from the very first ball.”
