Legendary Olympic athlete Usain Bolt disclosed his affection for top India batter Virat Kohli ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Notably, Kohli, the tournament’s all-time top run scorer, will be participating in his sixth T20 World Cup.

As the tournament’s brand ambassador, Bolt talked about how cricket influenced his life and spoke about the players he saw as a child. The eight-time Olympic gold winner named Wasim Akram, Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, Sachin Tendulkar, and Brian Lara as his favorites.

“Because of his in-swinging yorker, Wasim Akram has always been one of my childhood heroes.

Obviously, Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh, are two bowlers I’ve respected throughout the years, were also forces to be reckoned with,” Bolt said.

“I always cheer for the West Indies, just like my father does (laughs). Yes, I have also been a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar. Growing up, he and Brian Lara were in my world. It was a great rivalry,” he remarked.

Speaking further, the world’s fastest man expressed his respect for Virat Kohli, describing him as an exceptional player of the sport.

“Without a doubt, Kohli is exceptional, he is a standout player,” he continued.

Ahead of the ICC marquee event, Kohli is in sublime touch and is the leading run scorer in the IPL 2024. With one century and five half centuries to his name, the 35-year-old has amassed 661 runs from 13 innings at an average of 66.10 and a strike rate of 155.16.
